Antioch is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 90,532 at the 2000 census. It is at the eastern part of the San Francisco Bay Area.
At present, it is mainly a "bedroom" community, with most adults working in larger cities toward Oakland and San Francisco. The town has seen an enormous amount of growth in the last 30 years, as the population of the Bay Area continues to grow, and real estate prices force families to move towards the outskirts of the Bay Area.
There is fishing in the San Joaquin River at Antioch/Oakley Regional Shoreline, located just upstream from Highway 160's Nejedly Bridge. Also there is fishing in San Pablo Bay just 15 minutes down the San Joaquin River. The San Pablo Bay is world famous for its sturgeon fishing.

These are photos of the Black Diamond Lines the railroad name of the Antioch Model Railroad Club. This view shows about fifty percent of the model railroad system. It has a layout of 1,500 square feet spread over two rooms and are still expanding. There are five mainline trains that can operate together at once. The model layout is so nicely detailed at HO scale which is 1:87. This means that if a model is 1 foot long the actual real life object is 87 feet long.
