PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD-TOBAGO : Originally the site of Trinidad's capital city, Port of Spain, was an Amerindian village called Cumucarapo. The occupants, the Caribs, were nomadic and traveled between Trinidad and what is now Venezuela. The Spanish troops occupied the village in 1560. In 1797 the Spanish surrendered Trinidad to the British. Today Trinidad is one of the most modern islands in the Caribbean. Its population reflects the diverse cultures that settled here. Port of Spain is now one of the busiest commercial ports in the Caribbean. Photos were taken on 2006-04-12.

TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLAND : Tortola, is the sailing center of the Caribbean's favorite cruising grounds, the British Virgin Islands. It is also a center for reggae music. The views are breathtaking and some of the finest beaches in the entire island chain are here. The best, Cane Garden Bay and Long Bay, are on the north shore, where surfers also head to Apple Bay.
